Fort Caspar Academy is a public school within Natrona County School District #1 in Casper, Wyoming, serving students from grades Kdg. - 6th grade. It was established in 1995 by a group of parents as an initiative in school reform, and has stirred interest because of an innovative approach that combines traditional concepts of instruction and discipline with a modern understanding of childhood cognitive processes. The school environment is caring and nurturing . . . where highly trained professional staff are concerned not only with scholastic discipline, but also with each student as a person.

Comments from Norm Carrell - Original principal of Fort Caspar Academy
The founding parents of Fort Caspar Academy carefully and deliberately defined the school as a community with definite and distinguishing characteristics. Concerned that many of the "progressive" teaching practices lacked sound methodology and a content-rich, rigorous curriculum, parents and staff set about designing a program of "traditional" education that would both help students attain the basic tools of learning and guide them into solid subject matter. Highly trained teachers, coupled with an orderly and nurturing learning environment, help students learn confidence as they turn effort into achievement.
While providing knowledge to our students is a primary goal, instilling "moral discipline" is also a central mission of the school. It is important for our students to know the rigors of competition and the pain of hard work, but it is equally important for out students to be sensitive and responsive to the needs and misfortunes of others, kind, and gentle-hearted. It is the goal of the school to not only infuse in its students the joy of learning, but to also develop in our students a commitment to a life characterized by honesty, courage, and a respect and concern for others. Our task is both awesome and humbling. It's an honor to be a part of such a school.
